  Any Seinfeld fan will remember the episode that involved George choosing to do the opposite of every action he would normally undertake. George had underachieved and failed at every turn in his life. One day, he and Jerry are sitting in the cafe', when he begins to discuss that he should do the opposite of everything he has normally done. It is at this point that Jerry notices a beautiful woman looking at George, George uses this as his

defining moment and decides it is time to do the opposit of what he would have normally done. Before the episode is over, George is dating the beautiful woman
from the cafe and lands a job with the New York Yankees...simply because he did the opposite of his normal modus operandi.

This illustration is of great value for those of you who market your MLM business opportunity or affiliate programs online. Most online marketers tend to operate
in this manner: After finding a great affiliate product or MLM business opportunity, with a good product and sound commission structure, they head out in search of buyers. This would seem to make sense. You have to have buyers for your product if I'm going to make

any money, right????

Following their instincts, the average marketer sets out with their company replicated affiliate page and they attempt to generate as much traffic to that site as possible. Even though there are a few clicks here and there, perhaps even a few sales, but no real money is generated. So the marketer then goes to the social networking sites and forums, posting their affiliate link with the company supplied ad copy, every place they go. Unfortunately, the results do not change much. Eventually the marketer sees another program and thinks a better program is what is needed. Sadly, they repeat the process all over again, still achieving the same results, and unfortunately the same frustrations. Insanity has often been defined as repeating the same unproductive processes over and over again.

This is the point where George Costanza can give some great principles. While the first instinct in marketing would be to put product and company in front of people,
this is actually a very destructive instinct to your business. When we promote product and company, we are building up someone else's brand, never creating a
an attraction to us as the "source" for that product or company. The key to successful marketing is to one thing and one thing only...."you!"

People need to see you, know you and hear you. As their familiarity with you increases, so does their interest in you. Interest is the doorway to trust and once trust is established any company and any product can be easily introduced.
